KRAFTY KNITTERS St. Columba’s Church, Glenrothes
The Krafty Knitter’s group meets in St Columba’s Church the first and third Tuesday of the months between 1.30pm-3pm, and was set up on the 16/04/2017 in order to support and supply Twiddle Muffs for Dementia patients and Premature Baby items for distribution within NHS Fife.
We have an excellent working partnership with the Senior Dementia Co-ordinator within the Hospital and we have now been approached with a request to supply Twiddle Sleeves for patients with cannulas which need protecting and also to teach the nurses how to knit and crochet and to take part in any other projects as requested.
This has only been possible through the dedication and excellent work the ladies of the group have undertaken on a massive scale. We are also grateful for the backing of the Church, our Minister Alan Kimmitt, Carol Gibson our Session Clerk, the Kirk Session and the wonderful support of the Church Congregation who supply us at regular intervals with donations of wool.
We still need double knit and baby wool and we are undertaking a new project in dementia items and require chunky knit and textured wool in a variety of colours.
Due to Health and Safety issues it has been advised that only soft trimmings in wool should be used on our Dementia items for the Hospitals. Therefore, we are no longer asking for any donations of buttons or beads.
Our NEW PROJECT for the Church is for a supply of SHANARI’S. We have now prouduced 30 of these.
Prayer Blankets are now available for anyone who would like one. We have now produced 5 of these.
Thank you all for your support. This is a non-profit making project and everything is given as a charitable donation on behalf of the Krafty Knitters and St. Columba’s Church, Glenrothes. All donations of wool are used and greatfully received. Nothing is ever wasted.
There is a board in the main hall with an update and letters of thanks and information are always readily available to anyone who requests them. I am usually available in church and there is a box at both entrances to the church for donations of wool.
Many thanks and i would ask for your prayers for our continued success and for the patients and babies who receive our donations.
